PEACEKEEPING MILITARY TRAINING

To act by the principles of the soldier’s code of conduct and be an active member of the Defence community.

To acquire extensive knowledge of the Defence institution, its role, organisation, assets and manpower

THE UN AND PEACEKEEPING OPERATIONS

To acquire extensive knowledge of the United Nations, its institutions, programmes and principles.

To master every aspect and principles of “the Ten rules: Code of Personal Conduct for Blue helmets” and other standards of conduct.

UN TACTICAL TRAINING

To provide Commanding Officers with field tactical skills to cope with unexpected scenarios and crisis situations.

To confirm the necessary skills required to command a military/police unit to the appropriate level.

UN OPERATIONAL MAINTENANCE AND LOGISTICS

To gain skills required for the maintenance of the UN contingent’s collective and individual equipment.

To have extensive knowledge of the UN logistics organisation and equipment management procedures.

UN FORCE GENERATION

To gain skills required for the generation and management of a peacekeeping contingent for UN peacekeeping operations

GENDER AND HUMAN RIGHTS

course provides a general introduction to the evolution of the concept of gender equality within the international human rights system. It provides a foundational understanding of the centrality of gender equality and how this is addressed within the UN human rights system specifically.

FIRST – AID

To gain the skills associated with rapid assessment, stabilisation and transfer of both the trauma victim and those suffering a medical emergency.

To develop the individual’s foundation knowledge, enabling them to work individually, or as part of a team, in a variety of situations and locations.

TOPOGRAPHY

To determine a route, follow a map, designate and find objectives using topographical instruments and documents to achieve mission success.

FIREARMS TRAINING

To master the use of assigned firearms in accordance with all relevant safety procedures. To perform the necessary maintenance operations.

C – IED

To provide all field officiers with the appropriate skills to react to a IED threat and mitigate the risks.

To secure the unit’s safe passage, while preserving the life of surrounding civilian populations.

Defensive Driver Training (DDT)

To teach safe driving to RoSPA standards and for the students to gain key skills enabling them to react to any potential threat to the vehicle and its occupants.

LANGUAGES

To improve peacekeepers’ command of international languages to operate efficiently in the UN and multinational environment.
