04/03/16 UN inspectors have declared the Mauritanian Formed Police Unit (FPU) prepared by Sovereign Global France (SG F) to be 100% operational following its deployment to Bangui (Central African Republic – CAR) in early January 2016.
Since January 2015, SG F has been assisting the Islamic Republic of Mauritania in the preparation of a 140-strong FPU to be deployed in the United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilisation Mission in the Central African Republic (MINUSCA).
Since passing its pre-deployment inspection in August 2015 the unit has been deployed in Bangui (CAR) and declared fully operational by the UN on 28th January 2016.
The UN inspectors have “greatly appreciated the professionalism displayed by the SG F team” sent to Central African Republic to support the contingent. They said it “facilitated a smooth inspection” and added “Excellent job”.
Two years after its first assistance contract with SG F, Mauritania has become a leading African troop and police contributor to UN peacekeeping operations (UNPKO) with two FPUs already deployed in Cote d’Ivoire (UNOCI) and CAR (MINUSCA). This contribution will soon be augmented by the arrival in Bangui of an additional 750-strong infantry battalion which was also prepared by SG F.
